Bomb Pops & Bentleys

Watercolor, Colored Penci, Acrylic, Gouache & Ephemera on Wood Panel, 18" x 24"

The theme for this show was hip-hop and ice cream, and being rather stuck on Post Malone at the time, this just came out of the æther.

Far more importantly though, this was the first piece I had made for a show in over a decade, for a variety of reasons, none the least of which being I had no idea who I was, and as Cursive so artfully put it, “we all know art is hard when we don’t know who we are.”

It is absolutely no coincidence that this piece coincided with me publicly coming out as trans, and therefore it will always have a special place in my heart even once it is no longer culturally relevant.
